It's late and it's dark, and you're finally leaving the office for the night. You're tired, frustrated, and just want to get home. As you're walking to your car in the deserted parking lot, you think you hear a noise behind you. You whip around, only to be forcibly grabbed. What you do next could mean the difference between life and death.

According to statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Justice, violent crime (murder, rape, robbery, and assault) was down from a high of 52.3 incidents per 1,000 people in 1981 to just 21.1 incidents per 1,000 in 2004. Yet, if you're at the hands of an attacker, statistics won't mean a thing to you. You're focused on getting out as safely as possible.

Although no self-defense technique will be 100-percent effective in every situation, you should be aware of different means of fighting off an attacker. If the unfortunate situation arises that you need to protect yourself, hopefully, you will be able to use the method or combination of several techniques that could help you the most. Read on for six ways to fend off a dangerous attacker:

Scream and yell. Make a lot of noise, even if you think nobody is around to hear you. The last thing your attacker wants to do is get caught, so by making a scene, you may scare him away. Experts suggest you shout specific words such as "Help!" or "Police!" or "I don't know you!"
Use your belongings like weapons. Every item in your pocket, such as a pen or a set of car keys, has the potential to be used for your survival. Use any of these things to poke, jab, or scratch your assailant's face; the eyes and throat are especially vulnerable areas.
Carry pepper spray. If you carry and can reach your pepper spray, direct it right to your assailant's face. When properly used, pepper spray can be extremely effective. (However, keep in mind that some states, such as New York, Massachusetts and California, have laws restricting who can purchase pepper spray. Find out what the law in your area is.) Pepper spray is made with Oleoresin Capsicum (OC), a natural substance derived from the oily resins found in cayenne and other varieties of pepper. Contact with OC in a sprayed mist causes an immediate and intense burning sensation of the skin but especially affects the eyes, causing them to slam shut, burn, tear, and swell. In addition, the mucous membranes of the nose, throat, and sinuses burn, swell and make breathing difficult. Even those under the influence of drugs or alcohol will feel the effects. Often, pepper spray temporarily immobilizes the target, and the person's disorientation may enable you to make an escape.
Move as much as you can. If an attacker is holding you and doesn't have a firearm pointed to your head or a knife to your neck, move and squirm like a worm. Squirming will make it harder for him to get a good grip on you, significantly increasing your chances of getting out of his clutches. In addition, if he comes from behind you and locks his arm around your neck, turn your head so that your neck is in the space where his arm bends. This will allow you to get a pocket of air to breathe better, and you'll be in a better position to fight back.
Aim for important spots. If you're being restrained, you may not have a choice about what part of your assailant's body you can grab or attack. But if given the opportunity, aim for his face, stomach, knees, and shins. If you're able to hit these areas, you may be able to knock your attacker down, giving you precious time to escape. And if you can, go for a kick or knee strike to the groin, an especially vulnerable target. Even slight pressure to testicles can produce great pain, making it difficult for the attacker to stand, fight, or sometimes even breathe. Keep in mind, though, that men have a natural instinct to protect their groin from harm, so experts recommend redirecting the attacker's eyesight before hitting him in the groin. Even covering his eyes with your fingers may be enough to distract him from your intention. If his brain doesn't perceive the attack, he's less likely to reflexively block his groin-potentially giving you time make your move.
Do a palm-heel strike. This method is often recommended over punches. Closed fist punches rely on wrist strength and stability to deliver a proper strike, and your knuckles can easily be broken. A palm-heel strike involves hitting your attacker with the heel of your hand or the inside of your wrist. To form your hand for a palm-heel strike, bend your wrist back at a 90 degree angle, spreading and clawing your fingers. For an edge of hand blow, straighten your fingers and press them together, striking with the muscle in the side of the hand. This intense blow may catch your attacker off-guard and could give you a few moments to flee.

Whether it's for religious or personal reasons, if you want to dress more modestly, here's the guide to how to cover up.

Go through your closet. Do not jump to throw out clothes that seem immodest, because there are many possibilities and new ways to use them.
Decide what your standards of modesty are. Does modesty for you mean dressing in a way your relatives would approve of? Does it mean covering your shoulders and thighs? Does it mean avoiding clothes that cling to your skin? Is it covering your arms and legs? Figure out what makes you comfortable and feels right to you.

Try your clothes on in front of a large mirror. See how your clothing fits you and what impression it conveys. Bend over, sit down, wave your arms around. Make sure your clothes don't shift around too much.
When you go shopping, keep your eyes out for modest clothing. If what's in is crop-tops and that's not modest for you, look in other places, such as second-hand clothing stores and online stores. Also recognize that it might take longer to find clothing, but it's certainly possible.

Remember: just because you decide to dress more modestly doesn't mean you have to abandon all hope of dressing in a unique and cute manner. You're not doomed to life in a floor length jumper. Instead, look at this as a chance to get the style you've always wanted. Have fun with finding a classier more beautiful you! Shopping for cool modest clothing may seem tricky at first, but you get better and better as time goes by. Pretty soon all your friends will want to know where you get your clothes.
Layer your clothing! Have a tight long-sleeved shirt? Wear a loose sleeveless shirt over it as a vest. It looks really stylish when done correctly and keeps with the reverence of the female form.
Love your miniskirts? That's okay! They look adorable layered over longer skirts or cropped pants or even your favorite pair of jeans!
Buy long shirts. Let's face it: few people look good in clothes that reveal their stomachs and lower backs. Long shirts cover the waist and prevent the likelihood of an embarrassing situation when bending over.
Making the transition to a more modest lifestyle is always easier if you do it with a friend. Find a good shopping buddy who's just as interested in changing their wardrobe as you are. You can help each other when deciding what's appropriate, and you can help each other with finding and arranging awesome outfits.

Don't go too crazy with the creativity, unless looking different is your style.
Depending on your parent's views, miniskirts may or may not be ok. check with them before you wear anything they might be unsure about.
Men may actually like you for you, and not just for your beautiful body.
If modesty isn't who you are, you don't have to be conservative.
Truly, these are guidelines... It's all up to your parents, and they may disagree with the above. Check with them to clear up anything you are confused about.

I love this recipe. There are several ways to make deviled eggs. Use this method to make a hearty bacon and cheese mixture.

Ingredients

* 6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and cut lengthwise
* ¼ cup Real Mayonnaise or Salad Dressing
* ½ teaspoon mustard
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1/4-1 cup of shredded cheese (what kind of cheese and how much is your choice.)
* 1/4-1/2 cup of crumbled bacon (cooked of course! and again how much is your choice.)
* Paprika for garnish

1. Prepare hard boiled eggs.
2. Peel the eggs completely, trying to avoid making nicks in the white of the egg (unless this is just a treat for yourself).
3. Cut the eggs in half.
4. Pop out the egg yolks (yellow) in a small bowl and mash with a fork.
5. Add mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and crumbled bacon and mix thoroughly.
6. Add shredded cheese and lightly mix.
7. Fill the empty egg white shells with the mixture and sprinkle lightly with paprika.

* To make egg yolks easier to remove, try overcooking the eggs just slightly so the edge of the yolk has a grayish-yellow color. This may take several tries since you can't see the yolk during boiling.
* An alternative to spooning the mixture into the egg whites is to take a sandwich bag and cut the corner. Then put your mixture in the bag and fill boiled egg halves. This method can make it it a lot easier to fill and not so messy.

* Try not to stir the cheese in too much. You want the shredded cheese to just slightly be mixed in.

Have you ever sat on a one place and start smiling because you are reminishing things that happen in old days? I do, I start thinking about things when I was in high school back in Philippines.I had a group of friends when I was in high school, five girls and two boys. We all took the same electives which is Political Science and Theater Arts. We attended different class room but we took same electives at the same time. It was fun, we get along all together , we were like brother and sister. We care about each other. If someone messes up with one of our friend, we gang up on them on the person who pick on one of us ( not on the bad way though).

Old days in High school is very memorable. After we graduated high school ,we went in our seperate ways, some of us went to college and pursue a degree. We still visit each other and tried to hang out every weekend for a while . Usually there is time that each of us had plan for the future. After in a long run, some of us graduated college and had a great job( like manager of jolibee), some of us, gotten married and had a baby, some of us left the country and start a life. I am one of those who left the country. Eversince, seems like I lose my friend, because I am here in US and they are in philippine. We did still talk on the phone and letters to keep in touch. But there is times that we lose track of what was going on. I usually made an effort to visit them everytime I go back and visit my home country. I should have realized that people change, because some of my friend had change. I can't do anything about it, I don't hold the future.

Right now, I hardly hear from my friends back home anymore.But the good thing was, Once in a while one of my friend usually text me. That make me fell great. I know that people change and situation change. All I can do right now is remember the old good days. And when I come back and visit PI again, I will be visiting them.

I just wanted to share this with all my fellow blogger or whoever read my blog. Thanks for taking time reading what I wrote.

I woke up today with a blah mode. I felt like nothing, just didn't care about my people, things around me.They ask me "how am i doing" , I answer" just here, I'm alive". That's a cold responced, but that is how I felt. I didn't wanna be bother didn't wanna talk to anybody. I am thankful I am still alive and kicking but otherwise I don't really care.

Are You Normal or Nuts? Nobody is perfect thats for sure. Every single person in this world has their own quirks. Some are cute and some needs a professional attention. I have to admit , I am among of those many people out there that have the kind of behavior, its very harmless though. Every time I placed an order at Jack in a Box . I usually order Jumbo Jack. I sometimes forget to tell them that I don't want tomato on my burger. I usually remove the tomato off and placed it into a napkin. I usually noticed people look at me, they probably wondering what am I doing. Removing tomato out of my burger. I don't like tomato on my burger. I think my behavior fall in a normal category.

Here is another one. My Mom usually covers her mouth every time she laugh about sometimes. I don't know why, not to mentioned that she got a nice teeth. I think that's a nuts or she just being self concious

I have read the articles at Reader's Digest and I have to admit some of quirk
made me laugh. I think its some of them are silly. Here is my favorite :I cannot eat certain big, tricky-to-bite things in front of people unless I know them very well. Facing a huge sandwich at a business lunch is a nightmare. And a floppy wet salad on a date? Forget it. That's odd, no? . I think this isn't odd at all. Sometimes we feel uncomfortable putting a bunch of food on our plate,specially when you are out for date,guy might think something negative.

To all the readers , if you want to have something to laugh about to brighten up your day visit Reader's Digest Laughs and share your opinion. Let's face it -- we're all a little nutty, but sometimes it's good to share it with the world and most of all, laugh about it!

With the costs of natural gas and electricity to heat and cool your home continuing to skyrocket, reducing your spending seems nearly impossible these days. Fortunately, there are ways to save money—and even help save the environment in the process, by using less energy at home. Learn how you can save money and help the environment at the same time.

Here's a startling fact: The average American family spends more than $1,600 a year on home utility bills. What's more, by using electricity generated from fossil fuels, a single home emits more carbon dioxide annually than two average-sized cars.

With the costs of natural gas and electricity to heat and cool your home skyrocketing, reducing your spending seems nearly impossible these days. Fortunately, there are ways to save money-- and even help save the environment, in the process, by using less energy at home. Here, five easy tips to lower your energy bills.

1. Unplug all appliances when they're not in use,
or plug them all into a power strip that you can switch off. Light displays and other instant features consume 60 to 80 percent of the electricity used by electronics such as televisions and DVD players. And whether a device is charging or not, if it's plugged in, it's sucking up electricity. So, if you're not using your computer, put it in sleep mode, which consumes 60 to 80 percent less energy than full-power mode. Or better yet, unplug it. The energy lost on appliances that are turned off but plugged in (known sometimes as "vampire energy loss") represents between 5 and 8 percent of a single family home's total electricity use per year, according to the Department of Energy. That's equivalent to an average month's electricity bill.

On a national scale, this accumulates to a minimum of 68 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity yearly, which is equivalent to the productivity of 37 electricity-generating power plants--costing consumers more than $7 billion. All of this wasted energy emits more than 97 billion pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. According to Alan Meier of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, this accounts for 1 percent of the world's carbon emissions.

Stay cool.
In the winter, set your thermostat a little lower than usual. Try dropping it a degree or two every week so that you grow used to the temperature. Do the opposite for the summer time. You'll be amazed at the savings after just a few weeks. At night, try turning your thermostat down 5 to 10 degrees--which may even help you sleep--and turn it back to a comfortable temperature in the morning. If you're leaving the house, don't forget to turn down the thermostat. If you go away for a few days, you can safely lower the thermostat to 55 degrees Fahrenheit to reduce spending.

Switch the bulbs.
By replacing traditional bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, you can save money and conserve energy. In fact, according to the Alliance to Save Energy, by replacing only four 75-watt incandescent bulbs that burn four or more hours a day in your home with four 23-watt fluorescent bulbs, you can get just as much light--while saving more than 2,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity and $190 over the 10,000-hour life of the bulbs. Now, imagine if all the houses in the America were to do that. The amount of energy that could be saved if equal to the amount consumed by 38 million cars annually.

Stop the waterworks.
Next time you brush your teeth, turn off the tap water. In addition, try to take short showers instead of long baths. When you use the dishwasher, air dry your dishes instead of using the drying cycle. Also, consider using both the dishwasher and washing machine only on full loads of dishes and clothes. And if you have a leaky faucet, try to get it fixed right away. According to the Environmental Protection Agency states, leaky faucets that drip at the rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water a year.

Don't let your energy and money flow out the window.
Your energy might be literally leaking from your home, so make sure that it's properly insulated. According to the Alliance to Save Energy, proper insulation for your climate can not only increase your comfort and make your home quieter, but it can also reduce your heating and cooling costs up to 20 percent. Be sure to check all windows and floors, as well as the attic and crawl space.

Hey ! You... yes I am talking to you. Look like you need a break from what you are working on. Why won't you go get you a cup Herbal tea and relax a bit. OK while you are relaxing it would not hurt to take this short quiz. Just answer yes or no and your good to go.

1. Do you think of working all the time, even weekends and vacations and right before falling asleep?

2. Do you really get angry when somebody interrupt you with simple a simple question or request, such as your kid wanting to play catch?

Learn about the symptoms of alcoholism and what kinds of treatment are available for this disease.

Most Americans can't go a whole day without viewing a beer ad on the television, passing the neon signs of a bar, or glimpsing a billboard promoting the newest brand of vodka. Alcohol permeates American culture, and it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

However, for people with alcohol dependency issues, these common sights may hold a different meaning. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 17.6 million adults in the United States are alcoholics or have alcohol problems. Alcoholism can lead someone to allow drinking to affect work, relationships, and overall health. Here, a guide to alcoholism and what you can do if it affects you and your loved ones.

Symptoms of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse
Though the symptoms of alcohol dependency may vary from person to person, some are very common. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) defines an alcohol abuser as someone who allows drinking to interfere with work, home, or school situations, suffers from drinking-related legal problems, or allows alcohol to impede on his or her social life. An alcoholic, according to JAMA, will experience the same issues as the abuser; however, the alcoholic has complete mental, emotional, and physical alcohol dependence. Both alcoholics and alcohol abusers will undergo the following symptoms; however, alcohol intake and withdrawal are more severe in alcoholics. Here, the symptoms of alcoholism as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Commonly, an alcoholic will:

Drink alone or in secret;
Not be able to limit alcohol consumption;
Black out or not be able to remember conversations and events;
Take part in ritualistic drinking-drinking before, during, or after a specific time, such as meals or after work;
Lose interest in activities and hobbies that used to be pleasurable;
Feel a need or compulsion to drink;
Become irritable when alcohol isn't available;
Become intoxicated intentionally to feel "good" or "normal";
Have an unusually high tolerance, which results in increased consumption;
Undergo withdrawal symptoms-nausea, sweating and shaking-if he or she doesn't drink.

Causes
The cause of alcoholism has been extensively studied, but researchers haven't pinpointed a specific cause. Studies have found that there are a number of possible reasons that could contribute to having a disposition toward alcoholism, including genetic, socio-cultural, emotional, and historic factors.

Genetics.
Although heavy drinking is largely a behavioral act, studies suggest that some people are genetically pre-disposed to high amounts of consumption. According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, children of alcoholics are up to four times more likely to develop the disease. However, a genetic disposition doesn't mean a person will definitely abuse alcohol, simply that they may be more inclined to do so.
Socio-economic factors.
There is no evidence that shows that alcoholism is restricted to any one level of society. In fact, a 1996 study found that the difference in rates of alcoholism between those on welfare and the general population was only 7 percent. What has been found, however, is a higher rate of alcohol-related deaths with those in lower socio-economic groups. A Finnish study found that deaths due to alcohol increased 3.5 to 4.5 times among men in the lowest socioeconomic groups, compared with men in the highest socioeconomic bracket. Among women, it increased two to three times.
Emotional factors.
Stress derived from work, money issues, family, and friends, combined with anxiety or emotional pain can lead some people to drink alcohol to block out the turmoil. Though there is no physical link between increased stress and alcohol consumption, some researchers have found that high levels of stress may influence drinking when substitutive resources are not available, when alcohol is easily accessed, and, most importantly, when the individual believes that alcohol will help to reduce the stress.
Previous alcohol-related problems.
Having a previous problem with alcohol abuse can make you more prone to continued abuse. A recent study found that alcoholics who attempted to abstain relapsed due to severe stress. In this study, it was found that severe anxiety increased the likelihood of relapse in alcoholic males due to the belief that alcohol would reduce their stress.

Treatment and Prevention for Alcoholism
The adage holds true--the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. As many as 30 percent of Americans will have a drinking problem at some point in their lives, but many are reluctant to admit it. Treatment can involve personal evaluations, family interventions, counseling, or residential inpatient stay.

Abstaining from alcohol is crucial to a full recovery from alcohol dependency. Here, some tips on how to learn to live without alcohol.

Stay away.
To avoid old habits, it is important to steer clear of people and places that rekindle memories of drinking--even if it means losing some friends.
Join.
A self-help group can be a wonderful tool to assist in your recuperation. Often these groups offer support by others that went or are going through the same process you are. Programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) provide the emotional and psychological support necessary to aid in your recovery. Al-Anon and Alateen maybe beneficial for family members of alcoholics.
Rely.
Enlist your family or friends to assist you. It may be only to talk or to help you get away from old habits.
Exercise.
By taking up a new hobby, like exercising, you can replace the time you formerly spent drinking doing something productive. What's more, studies have shown that exercise helps release chemicals in the brain that can provide a natural positive feeling.
Know your limits.
Knowing when you need professional assistance can mean the difference between a full recovery and a relapse. Pay attention to your body and your needs. If abstaining from alcohol makes you feel helpless, it's acceptable to enlist the help of a counselor or an alcohol-recovery program.

I was browsing around Social Spark ,and I came across with one of the spark ( free opps) about "Multiple Sclerosis" . Her daughter, the author of Select Visions juts got diagnose with MS. We know for fact that MS is a chronic disease of a central nervous system. The part of the nervous system which is composed of the brain, the spinal cord and the optic nerve (although the optic nerve often isn’t mentioned in definitions). The brain receives signals from the peripheral nervous system, through nerves which pass through the spinal cord.

It is probably an autoimmune disease. Wondering what this mean?
Disease or condition in which the body’s immune system causes illness by attacking healthy cells in the body. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is believed to be an autoimmune condition in which the immune system, for unknown reasons, attacks the myelin surrounding the nerves. The symptoms of MS are caused by damage to the myelin

Chronic disease: MS is not curable. However, there are treatments that are showing great promise for slowing down the progression of the disease.
Disease of the central nervous system: The central nervous system is comprised of your brain and spinal cord.
Autoimmune disease: This means that your body’s own immune system is attacking itself- in this case, targeting cells in your brain and spinal cord.

We should know that there are 50 symstom linked with MS ,all which can vary in severity, duration and associated disability.
The most common symptoms of MS are:

Fatigue
Depression
Bladder dysfunction
Numbness and/or tingling
Sexual dysfunction
Bowel dysfunction
Pain
Dizziness and vertigo
Spasticity
Vision problems
Cognitive impairment
However, all of these symptoms are also common to many other diseases and disorders.

If you are experiencing one or more of the symptoms listed and suspect that you have MS, you should see a neurologist. You can either find a neurologist yourself, or get a referral from your primary care physician. Although this is a difficult and scary time, try not to panic and continue to take care of yourself, including getting adequate sleep and rest. While some of the MS symptoms are dramatic, MS itself is not an acute disease – there is very little that is an emergency. It is important that you see a specialist (even if it takes some time to get the appointment) and go through the tests required in a logical manner.

Sometimes ,we never know what is going to happen tomorrow. We never know about what life can bring us. It's very sad morning .

One of my favorite comedian died this morning from complication of pneumonia. He also battled health problems brought on by the inflammatory disease sarcoidosis that were clearly more serious than he let on in public. He made a lot of people laugh.

Packing light is one solution to the problem and challenges of air travel.

Take versatile clothes. Take clothes that can be worn several times, such as a blazer worn on the plane that can also go casual with jeans or be dressed up for dinner. Another practical piece is a denim shirt that can be worn as a shirt or light jacket, or over sleepwear as a robe. A different outfit for everyday is a travel luxury, it's a best to mix and match a few versatile pieces.

Choose thin items over thick. A light turtleneck combined with a light sweater is a warmer, more versatile option and packs smaller than a sweatshirt or bulky sweater.

Pack only the cosmetics needed. Cosmetics is often represent half the weigh of afully packed suitcase. Buy sample-size cosmetics or transfer the amount needed to a small container.

Take only three pair of shoes. Shoes are very bulky item. Wear one pair and pack two.

As you organize all the things in your house, it's clear that items such as blankets, toys, seasonal products and so on take up a lot of room, A very clever storage solution is the vacuum-seal storage bag. These bag has air-tight and watertight zippers and a one way air valve so that , using an ordinary vacuum, you can suck out all the air in the bag.The result is smaller package to store, saving space and keeping the items clean and safe.

In the Closet
   When it comes to our wardrobes most of us wear 20 % of our clothes 80 % of the time that leaves a lot of clothes just hanging around the closet. And if your working with small closet, those garments are taking up some prime real state.
  The first step to any closet overhaul is remove everything. Then seperate everything by season, or winter and summer wear.
  Store all your winter items, such as sweaters, ski coats, pants and bulky comforters, in vacuum seal bag. Once the season change, your winter clothing comes out fresh and clean. Do the same for your summer wardrobes when the time comes.

Kids Stuffs
   Infant and toddler gear expands rapidly. You can store a child's precious baby clothes safely and securely compress and protect extra bedding, pillows and blankets
and provide a dirt and allergen free storage free place for the stuffed animal overflow.

Around the house
   For belongings you want by your front door, use a bag in the nearest closet. It's a handy way to store mittens, scarves, hats and the like. The front door closet is also great place for storing winter coats and foul-weather gear.
   For the dinning room, seal your good silver in air-tight and watertight vacuum seal bags to put the breaks on the tarnish when exposed to air and moisture.
  In your attic, take advantage of empty suitcases by compressing seasonal clothing or bedding in bags, then place them inside the lauggage. Store items will be safe from moistures, pets, mildew , dirt and odors and take up zero additional space.

It's often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Find out why it's so important to get off to a good start.

When you're hitting the snooze button for the third time, breakfast is probably one of the last things on your mind. After all, you still have to shower and then race to work in time to make that presentation. But according to experts, letting a hectic schedule force you to skip breakfast could compromise your health.

Breakfast Benefits

The next time you're considering skipping the most important meal of the day, think about the following reasons to get back on track.

Food that fuels. A healthy breakfast provides you with enough nutrients to energize your body for hours.
Healthier eating habits. Studies have shown that people who eat breakfast consume more vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and less fat and cholesterol.
Calorie cutting. People who don't eat breakfast are likely to eat more calories throughout the day than people who skip lunch, according to the Nemours Foundation's Center for Children's Health and Media.
Reduced diabetes risk. People who eat breakfast are significantly less likely to be diabetic than those who usually don't, according to the American Heart Association.
Weight control. A study by the National Weight Control Registry shows that eating breakfast actually helps keep people's weight down.
Increased focus. According to the American Dietetic Association, people who eat breakfast are better able to concentrate and be more productive throughout the morning.
Enhanced memory. According to experts, eating breakfast improves memory and learning. In one study, college students who ate a morning meal scored 22 percent higher in a word-recall test than those who skipped breakfast.
Better fitness. Researchers believe that people who eat breakfast have higher energy levels and may engage in more physical activity than people who don't.
Improved mood. Skipping breakfast can make you feel tired, irritable, or sad. Even grabbing some fresh fruit or a bowl of cereal can help boost your mood.
Stress reduction. The time you spend eating breakfast can be relaxing and help you to mentally prepare for the day. Eating breakfast also forces you to slow down, helping you to prioritize.

Keep in mind, however, that all breakfasts are not created equal--a healthy morning meal should be balanced and not too heavy. So, skip the eggs, bacon, sausage, and biscuits, and go for whole-grain cereals with fruit or juice instead. Or opt for an egg-white omelet filled with vegetables.

I guess PPP has changed the way they approved the task. They had the automatic approval once you submit your opps . Right now they have the manual approval( That's how I call it) But it's alright. Another thing, I had a task done the other day at PPP and I donated my payment to AW (Alzhemeir's Walk ), I think it's important to help even for small amount.I am looking forward to give some more when I can.

Spending a little time to pack basic remedies into your vacation luggage will prepare you for whatever minor mishaps fall your way along the wayside! No, you can't prepare against every minor ailment...you'd need a pharmacy. However, certain problems cause the bulk of distress that travelers experience.

Pack any and all prescription medications.
Add your favorite headache medicine. Headache is a common problem travelers experience, often due to driving "into the sun" or spending time outdoors during afternoon's glare. Pack (and use!) sunglasses to avoid a headache. Pack Tylenol and/or a member of the "NSAID" family of medicines: Aspirin, Advil/Motrin (generic: ibuprofen), or Alleve (generic: naprosyn).
Put medications for your tummy in your bags. Travelers also frequently become constipated or have diarrhea.
* For constipation, avoid the problem by eating fresh, fibrous fruit...apples, raisins, pears, etc...and staying well-hydrated. Pack Correctol (or other favorite laxative) and use per package directions at bedtime; medication should work the following morning. Stimulate action by drinking something warm or eating a light breakfast.
* For diarrhea: Avoiding diarrhea is difficult; even just drinking different water from a new locale...yes, even clean water...can cause it. Avoid buffets where the food sitting out looks obviously stale. Pack Immodium (generic: Loperamide) and take per package directions. Allow yourself at least one hour for the medication to work.
Pack medicines for allergies. Travelers may come into contact with new allergens on their vacations. For external relief of minor itching and redness, pack Benadryl or Hydrocortisone cream, and follow package direction. If itch remains unrelieved, numb the itchy area using an ice pack. Internally taken allergy tablets available over the counter are Benadryl (generic: diphenhydramine) and Claritin (generic: Loratadine). Benadryl can cause drowsiness, and is even used as an over the counter sleep remedy! Best for use at bedtime. Claritin does not cause drowsiness, so it's best for daytime use.
Add band-aids and antibiotic cream to your kit. If you'll be walking all day touring a new city or theme park, you'll be at risk for developing blisters. Don't ever wear brand-new shoes when touring on foot. Use comfortable, tried-and-tested shoes. (The antibiotic cream will help prevent any cuts and scratches from becoming infected, as well.)
Pack medicine for getting rid of gas. Bloating and passing gas can be uncomfortable and embarassing. Avoid any foods while on vacation which have caused this problem for you in the past. Try Simethicone 80 mg. or 125 mg. tablets or capsules. (Simethicone is a generic name; this medication can be found in many different brands of gas-relief products.)
Pack pads/tampons. Women should pack spare sanitary supplies.
Pack sunglasses and sunscreen. Vacationers to the great outdoors are at risk for sunburn. Avoid this by limiting sun exposure during mid-day.

* Packing prescription medication is one of the most important items you can bring on your trip...but you can't pack them too early because you'll need to keep taking them every day. Solution: Make a "last minute checklist." Put "to-do" items on it like "turn off stove," "double check for cash and credit cards" and "pack prescriptions!"
* Having your prescriptions available at all times is so important to the success of your entire vacation that you should have a back-up plan in case they get lost. Pack a second bottle of the most vital medications in a separate bag. Consider moving your prescription to a national chain of pharmacies...one which has an outlet at your destination. Then, you can replace missing meds easily.
* Pack all prescriptions in their labeled bottles for travel. HINT: If you do split your prescription medications (carry on/checked luggage), ask your pharmacist to fill your prescriptions that way. DO NOT split your medications into unlabeled bottles, especially in your carry on luggage to foreign countries, as customs agents may assume these are illicit drugs! Even better, ask your physician to print a list of all your medications and enclose a copy in the ziplock for each set of medications.
* Women: it's a good idea to pack thrush medication if you do have a tendency towards thrush. (it beats trying to explain what you need to a chemist in a country where you might not speak the language!)
* BONUS TIPS FROM A BOARD-CERTIFIED PHYSICIAN: Your physician may be willing to prescribe medications that could be extremely useful on prolonged, foreign travels. A few suggestions for prescription-only medications (always verify with your physician and, if possible, call a physician before starting): BACTROBAN OINTMENT (apply to skin twice a day) - though it looks like bacitracin ointment, it is a powerful skin antibiotic that can do things only antibiotics by mouth used to do (staph and strep skin infections are common among travelers). CIPROFLOXIN 1000mg (take 1/2 - 1 by mouth 2 times/day): an antibiotic with myriad uses - bloody diarrhea, cough with fever or colored phlegm, bladder infections, etc. etc. NOT if you are allergic. As mentioned, it's best to try a medication ON THE GROUND and AT HOME to make sure you do not have an allergy. Also, women on birth control, when taking an antibiotic you must use alternate protection during intercourse, as antibiotics may temporarily inactivate your birth control. PHENERGAN 25mg tablets (1-2 by mouth every 4-6 hours): prescription pills that reduce nausea - may control motion sickness and coughing as well, but will cause drowsiness. MOTRIN 800mg (1 with meals up to three times daily) This anti-inflammatory, available as 200mg over-the-counter (see above), has multiple uses ranging from fever to aches and sprains. NOT if you are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDS, pregnant, on blood thinners (coumadin, daily aspirin, etc.), or have a history of stomach ulcers or kidney diseases. There are many more prescriptions that can be life or limb saving in remote areas or for unique travels (tropical, high altitude, malaria-infested, etc.) An experienced physician or travel medicine clinic can tailor a prescription-level emergency medical kit to your special needs if given enough time and details of your itinerary. Don't forget to start (up to 6 months) in advance to make best use of important vaccines, such as for hepatitis B and hepatitis A. The above medical details are provided for information and education. Travelers should consult their own physicians for individual diagnostic and treatment advice.

Warnings

* Never drive under the influence of a prescription that causes drowsiness.
* Do not take any medicine you have not tried before, as side affects will be more difficult to cope with in an unfamiliar location.
* If you haven't taken Claritin before, don't pack it. It can cause mood swings, depression, sleep loss, loss of appetite and paranoia in some people.

While being in a foreign country may be fun, there is always danger abroad, just as there is danger at home. All visitors from any country should learn what the dangers are in foreign countries and how to protect themselves no matter how sure they are that they are safe. There is always the possibility that something can go wrong, so, as they say, it's better to be safe than sorry. Whether by yourself or with family or friends, safety is important.

Research the country you are going to before you go. The best and fastest way of researching is to search on the Internet for legal information[1] and things you should know well in advance to your traveling to that country. A streetwise traveler should also know emergency numbers, and at least a bit of the language (like the word for "help"). Also find out places to avoid, like alleys, bad neighborhoods, and red light districts. Your government may have resources available to travelers that will outline what you need to be prepared for.
*
Know the local customs. There are many gestures that you may be accustomed to, but are frowned upon in other countries where they may be seen as the opposite of their intention. For instance, the thumbs up "OK" sign that is used in much of the West is a nasty hand gesture in other countries. Your travel agent should be able to help you with determining the customs you're used to that might have the opposite effect in a different country.
*
Learn how the locals dress. If the locals are dressed in a moderate way, you should dress the same. You don't want to draw unwanted attention to yourself, especially at sites of religious importance.
*
Before arriving in any country, get the addresses and phone numbers of your country's embassy and any military bases (if applicable). From some countries, such as the USA, it is possible to register with a consulate online, ahead of travel. Once you have done this, if there arises any kind of natural disaster or military conflict, the consulate will know that you are in-country, which is the first step in being able to offer assistance.
Make three copies of everything before you leave. Make copies of your passport, travel itinerary and tickets, credit cards, driver's license, and any other important documents. Copy the back of everything, as well. This can make it easier for you to recover if any of your documents are stolen, but keep the copies in separate locations, and keep them safe. You can also consider making scans of your documents and e-mailing them as attatchments to yourself to be printed off when and if needed.
Contact your country's embassy upon arriving. Advise them of your location and your name, especially if you are in a politically turbulent foreign country. If possible, travel to the embassy, or at least spot it on a map and know how you can get there if you need to.
Avoid looking like a tourist. Generally, don't wear any of the following:

* Jewelry
* A nice pair of sneakers (especially white ones)--you might be tempted to because you might be doing a lot of walking, but a nice pair of sneakers will show people that you are indeed a tourist (which makes you look like a target to thieves).[3]
* Fanny pack
* Tote bags imprinted with a tour group operator name or symbol
* Obviously new apparel
* Electronics - if you must bring them, put them in the oldest, most beaten-up backpack you can find

Check to see if tap water is safe. Even if it is safe, remember that it may be treated with different chemicals than your home country and could still make you ill. Drinking water contaminated with chemicals or bacteria can make people sick, especially children and the elderly.[4] Also, when buying water from a vendor in the streets, make sure that the cap is still attached to its ring.

Be careful with sexual encounters. STDs are common to all cities across the world, even your own. The occurrence of STDs like AIDS and syphilis is higher in some cities, especially among prostitutes. Remember, the only guaranteed protection is not having sex in the first place, but if you do, wear or require your partner to wear protection that reduces the transmission of disease. If you're a woman, take precautions against date rape.

Keep your personal information secret. No one but you needs to know where you are staying, where you are going, and when you are doing it. No matter how trustworthy a person seems, it's not important they know your personal information. If somebody asks where you are staying, then lie. When checking in a hotel, don't say your room number out loud at any time. Ideally, the hotel clerk should be discreet about it also (writing the room number on your key envelope) but if you think others heard your room number, simply ask to have it changed.
Safeguard your room. Ask for a room that is not on the ground floor or near the elevator or fire stairs, as they tend to get thieved more often. Bring a rubber door wedge and put it under your door every night, just in case. If someone has a key or picks the lock, the rubber wedge will give you enough time to make a commotion and call for help. If you don't have a wedge, put the chair up against the door knob. Put a "do not disturb" sign on your door when you leave so that people think you're in there. Leave the TV on at a moderate volume so that people cannot tell if your room is occupied or not. Keep your valuables out of sight in a safe or in a not-so-obvious container (like a bread box).

Be polite and non demanding. If you are quiet and respectful, you are less likely to draw attention to yourself through your behavior. Depending on the local customs, however, do not assume that being extra friendly is beneficial - it may be interpreted as an invitation that you never meant to offer, especially if you are female. Avoid doing anything (having drinks, doing drugs) that makes you loud or belligerent in any way. Not only will you draw attention to yourself in a negative way, but you'll also be more vulnerable because you're not completely alert.
Carry your documents strategically. Do not place your credit cards, cash, ID cards, and passport all in the same place.

* Keep cash and credit cards separate from ID cards. By keeping things separated you eliminate the risk of having them all stolen.
* Always have some cash stashed away in a shoe, a hidden pocket, or in yet another shoe, in case you need immediate cash for taxi ride or something fast to eat. Do not carry too much cash, and never flash it all when you pay.
* If you have a wallet, wear it in your front pants pocket instead of in the back and your pocketbook close to the body. To be extra safe, prepare a mugger's wallet - an inexpensive wallet with a small amount of real cash plus fake sample credit cards and IDs. Use this fake wallet in case you are mugged and have to give it up. Throw it towards them but aim for further than them. As they run to get the wallet, you have the chance to run the opposite way to get away from them.The muggers are more interested in the cash and won't take the time to examine the fake cards and IDs until later.

Walk facing the traffic. This way no cars can sneak up behind you and commit a crime. It has also been known for thieves on scooters to snatch handbags as they drive past. Keep you handbag/suitcase on the side of your body that is away from the traffic.

Be alert when using public transportation. Steer clear of unlicensed taxis. Better still, hire a car, or get a bus or train. Try to get a seat at the front of the bus, as you will be near the driver. You should never go on the top floor of a bus late at night. It really is not safe up there, and there have been some horrific crimes committed there. If you are getting a train, try to find a seat in a busy carriage somewhere in the middle of the train. This means you will only have to walk down half a potentially lonely and poorly lit platform.
Never get into a car with a stranger. If it is a certified taxi driver, then make sure by asking for identification. If you find out too late that you are in an illegal taxi driver's car, break away through windows or the door.
If driving, be alert to changes in the rules of the road. Some countries will drive on the left side of the road, others on the right. In the U.S., you drive on the right side; in Japan or the UK, you drive on the left side. Driving on the opposite side of the road to what you are accustomed is a significant adjustment; in particular, be very careful when turning to be sure you end up on the correct side of the road.

Be especially careful at night. This is the most dangerous time in any country. Do not go anywhere you don't know, and again, make sure you stick to well lit areas. It has been known for people (especially women) to be raped, murdered or kidnapped (a lot of these crimes taking place late at night). There's also the greater risk of drug and gang activity.
Never give your passport to a hotel clerk. Some countries have laws that require that hotels hold the passports of their guests (such as Italy, where handing over your passport overnight is usually perfectly safe). If you feel uncomfortable about parting with your documents, you can often get a certified copy of your passport information that you can substitute. You might also make a good quality photocopy of the main passport page and demand the hotel hold that instead.
If you are traveling a country with a history of foreign citizen kidnappings and suspect you might be a potential victim of a kidnapping, do not leave your hotel/place of residence at the same time every day. Do not use the same route to go to or from a specific destination (e.g. an office) every time.
Stock up on food and water in your hotel room as soon as you arrive, especially if there's the possibility of kidnappings, riots, and anything else that might call for you staying in your hotel. You may think you are wasting money on items you do not need, but they could save your life in a worst case scenario. If you do not use them, offer them to the hotel as a thank you for a nice stay.
If you are on your own, try to befriend some other travelers. There is safety in numbers.

If you are in a country where political tensions are high, be extremely careful. It has been known for tensions to erupt, resulting in terrible consequences. Bombs have exploded and killed hundreds. If you find yourself in this situation when you are in the country, do not go outside of where you are staying. The army may be called in as well. This can bring about devastating gunfights in the street. You may have to stay there for quite some time, to let things calm down.
Unfortunately, not everyone is caring during a dangerous situation. Some people adopt the "every person for him/herself approach". Be careful whom you trust.
Do not take favour or help from stranger, especially while you go to exchange money. Do not exchange your currency with illegal operators/agents.
Try to avoid late-night pubs.

Losing your wallet or purse can be a devastating experience. Not only have you lost your identification, but also your cash, your credit and debit cards and anything else that may have been inside. Follow this guide to take back control of some of what you've lost.

to find the wallet. Remember when you last had your wallet. Doing so will help you eliminate places where you could not have lost it, and concentrate on places where you may have. Retrace your steps. What were you wearing? Where did you go? When did you take your wallet out of your pocket? Simple questions like these may help. If you know there's a slim chance of finding it, or if your wallet was stolen, proceed to the next step.

* Make calls to places you've gone recently (since you last saw your wallet) including restaurants, theaters, and the like and ask if they have a lost wallet. They will need a description. Usually the name on an ID or a specific member's card will do. Even larger places, like malls, have lost-and-found offices or security centers.
* Don't assume that the movie theater or other business would call you. Some businesses do not make calls due to concerns that it might disclose the fact that you were somewhere or with someone that you do not want made known.
Assume the wallet is stolen. If you can't find the wallet within a few hours, someone else might, and you don't know if that person will return it to you. When it comes to your identity, credit cards, and bank accounts, you're better off safe than sorry. The maximum time you will want to wait is 24 hours as, for many companies, there are deadlines for reporting lost cards.
Call your bank and report your debit card stolen. It is very important to do this quickly as, unlike credit cards, the law says that debit cards leave the consumer on the hook if left unreported. You can be charged for any withdrawals and even overdraft charges. Once you call the bank, your debit card liability is reduced to $50.

Suspend your credit and debit cards
Suspend your credit and debit cards
Call your credit card companies as soon as you can and cancel your credit cards, especially your store cards. They often have less stringent security policies and have stricter reporting than many major credit cards. Apply for a new card for the same account if you can.
Report your wallet lost or stolen to the police. It may seem like a waste of time, but having a police report will help you in many areas including insurance claims, liability issues and more.
Get a new driver's license. If you get pulled over, the officer may or may not believe your story of having a lost wallet. Don't take the chance.
Call the credit reporting agencies (credit bureaus) and report your lost cards and other relevant items. The major credit recording companies include Equifax, Experian and Transunion..
Buy a new wallet. While you're waiting to find your old one, you'll need something to keep everything in. If and when you find your old wallet, you can choose which one to use. If you think you will lose it again, consider purchasing one with a chain, or something that will help prevent losing it in the future. As an affordable alternative, buy a nylon wallet. They last for years. Put a rubber band around it so you know when it's moved, or buy or make an ankle holster with a Velcro strap to place the wallet in, fasten it around your ankle. Use a money clip with one credit card in it. As an alternative to buying a new wallet, try making one.
Asking friends.If you remember where you last left your wallet call your friends or parents and ask them to search for your wallet in their place.
Good places to check for your wallet.Try to look for your clothing used last time(pants,pockets etc.)Also check your washing machine dryer also your toilet (I know looking for your wallet sounds random but it is actually very useful.

Keep your cards separately in a card holder. When you lose a wallet you can still use your cards, and when you lose cards/cardholder,
Make sure you write down important account numbers before you lose your wallet, or check your paper or electronic bills for the account numbers and contact information. In the case that you do lose your wallet, these numbers will be critical to know. Police officers may accept a driver's license number happily if you've lost your wallet.
A simple way to record the contents of your wallet is to photocopy or scan both the front and back of all your cards. Keep the copy in a very safe, but separate place. The place should be readily accessible to you, not in a bank safe deposit box that might be unavailable when you need it.
Keep phone numbers on-file for banks, credit card companies, etc. In the event that you lose your wallet, you'll need these quickly to help prevent anyone else using those cards.
Don't keep all your cash in your wallet. Get a money clip to hold some of it in, or keep some at home in a safe place and only carry what you think you may need. This way, you reduce the amount of cash you may lose if you lose your wallet.

Protect your wallet

Periodically during the day, make sure you still have your wallet. It takes only a second to do, and it gives you a better chance of finding your wallet if you have just lost it. Get in the habit of checking regularly: every time you get up to go somewhere, while you're walking, etc. A light touch of your back pocket or a quick look in your purse will give you a clear indication.
Do not keep your wallet in your back pocket when you travel, or are in crowded places. This extra level of security for you nearly eliminates the chance of someone slipping it out of your clothing. Put your wallet in your front pocket or a backpack, or use a money belt.
If you regularly keep your wallet in your back pocket, try to wear pants that have a button on the back pocket, and use it.
If you notice charges to your account that were made between the time you lost your wallet and the time that you suspended your credit/debit cards, call your institution and inform them, then file another police report (unless the institution says they will do that for you). This insures that you are not liable for those charges, and gives you a better chance of finding your wallet after the investigation is over.
If you keep your wallet in your back pocket, make sure the pocket is not stretched out. Your wallet will most likely stay in your pocket if the wallet is not too thick and your pocket is tight.
