Can't get other family members to pitch in on household chores? Positive reinforcement and frequent communication can work toward getting a cleaner house.

1. Make a list of all the tasks that need to get done. No task is too small.
2. Put it somewhere visible, carry on doing stuff and make sure you tick off what you manage to do.
3. Ask your family members to each take on one task once in a while. If they do help, thank them. For children, give them a big hug. You may also want to provide a treat. Make it fun, and it will get done!

* With list in hand, it is far easier to make people compromise to help around the house. Peer pressure is a valuable tool. There is bound to be somebody that is more helpful, making the others look bad and possibly making them more willing to cooperate.
* With some people nothing will do. Don't be afraid to show your displeasure, but realize that perhaps there are other issues at play.
